List Mania part 2

Post Kennedy Center Purchases:

CD - the Skylighters - a side project of Last Train Home personnel. Should be pretty good. I've begun feeling obligated to buy a CD following shows I enjoy.

At Olson's Books:

CDS

The Ramones Greatest Hits - fills a glaring hole in my CD collection. I had some Ramones on tape, but none on CD. This contains 20 of their greatest "hits" including Blitzkrieg Bop and I Wanna Be Sedated.

A John Waters Christmas - I've seen some of John Waters' commercial movies such as Hair Spray and Cry Baby and have found them to be very interesting musically. I own the soundtrack to Hair Spray and enjoy it. I think I read a good review of this CD a year or so ago and am looking forward to listening to it.

Bettye LaVette - I'v Got My Own Hell to Raise - I've never heard anything by Bettye Lavette. I believe she's an R&B singer. The current music writer at the Washington Post has high praise for her, so I thought I would give it a try.

Books:

Me and Orson Welles by Robert Kaplow - Looked interesting on the shelf as I passed it. It appears to be a fictional story of a young man who interacts with a 22 year old Orson Welles. I"ve never heard of the author.

Plain Heathen Mischief by Martin Clark - Looked interesting. The back says its a funny and poignant story of a fallen minister. This has to be the first time that I have ever typed the word "poignant". I don't think I've heard of this author.

Wolves Eat Dogs by Martin Cruz Smith - Smith wrote the book "Gorky Park" during the Cold War days of the 1980's. I remember liking it. It involved a Russian policeman named Arkady Renko. He wrote a follow up book with this character travelling to Cuba. I don't remember the name of it, but I think it was ok. So I thought I'd give this one a try. It is also an Arkady Renko story. Smith also wrote a pretty good book called December 7 (?) about an American in pre-Pearl Harbor Japan. That one was probably my favorite by him.

Lets see how long it takes for me to read them.
