Update on my golf game

Well, it was kind of a tough early August. I had family gatherings on both sides and embarassing golf outings with 2 different brothers in law. The second was so bad that it reached the "condescending" stage from my brother in law. This is the point where they start wildly complimenting you for any shot that's not a total disaster. You know "Wow, what a hit!" and then they calmly hit one 50 yards further. They mean well, but I know a good shot from a bad shot. I probably shot around 125 for 18 holes.
Well, I arrived back home on Sunday afternoon and went to my "home" course where I played 18 holes on my own. Very calming. I shot a personal best 52 on the front 9 and ended up with 110 total. Better yet, I was hitting the ball solidly and my frame of mind was much better for each shot.
I then shot 54s for 9 at Gunpowder Golf Club in Laurel and at Bowie Country Club . These scores match my current goal of "Dan Par" which is an average of 6 per hole. Yesterday I went out on my own again to Gunpowder and kind of shot 100 even. I say kind of because I took a mulligan on 1 par 3 after hitting the first shot in the water and may have counted a "10" as a 9. So in my mind its really 103 although by the rules of some of my playing partners its definitely 100. Next time there will be no ambiguity! 99 here I come!

I like the idea of a personal par. It's nice to hang around friends who let you play at your own par.
