His novels involve a country singer/amateur detective named Kinky Friedman who lives in New York and solves various mysteries and cases that come his way. They're pretty good reads if you like that sort of thing. His song catalog includes titles such as "They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore", "Get Your Biscuits in the Oven and Your Buns into Bed" and this one. Oh Yeah, Kinky also made an unsuccessful run for Governor of Texas last year. Quite a character.
