new cds

Just bought a couple of cds from Itunes. Nothing "new", just old music that I'm liking.
First was Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction. When they first arrived, I dismissed them as just "Heavy Metal" and I don't like heavy metal.
But over the years, everytime I heard Sweet Child of Mine, I thought that it was an excellent song. Then recently I heard "Welcome to the Jungle" again and decided that I needed to add this album to my collection. I haven't listened to it all the way through. I'm interested to see if the other songs come close to the 2 I mentioned.

I also bought 2 Marshall Tucker Band albums. They don't appear to have a greatest hits album, so I had to get 2 of their "regular" albums. They have some excellent songs including Can't You See, Heard It in a Love Song (great verse- "I've never been with a woman long enough for my boots to get old, We've been together so long, they both need resoled"), Fire on the Mountain, etc. The first time that I was at the Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis it was to see them. I guess they had about 2 or 3 of their original members. It was summer and was the 7:00 early show. They barely played an hour. The sun was still out when we emerged. Regardless they have some great songs.

I've also bought Corrine Bailey Rae from ITunes based on the Put Your Records On single which I like, but haven't listened to it yet. Old out of touch guy that I am, I searched ITunes for Corrine Rae Bailey. What a dork I am.

In hard copy, I recently purchased "Rabbit Fur Coat" by Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins. This was based on high praise from Washington Post critic J Freedom Du Lac. I like it. Folky with some gospel/country influence. Nice harmonies. There are several God references but I can't determine her views on God and religion. Although I bought a hard copy of it, I can't find the cd booklet so haven't been able to study the lyrics. She also has an interesting cover of the Travelling Wilbury's "Handle Me With Care". I like an unexpected cover like this. The title song is darned interesting although I can't quite figure it all out.

Wow, I'm listening to "Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker Band and it is a damn fine song. Download it and give it a listen.
