One of the best albums of 2006 in any genre was Van Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn. It was produced by rocker Jack White of the White Stripes so had a different sound than you might expect. Here's the title song, which is great. Especially great is that he uses the present tense at the end rather than the past tense. Its another song that would be part of my set list if I ever were to do a drag show along with "Me and Bobby McGee".
